The women, with a more meticulous eye, chose to return to the house. Their task? Our host then invited us into his kitchen, the heart of the home. Without hesitation, the travelers pitched in, helping to clean vegetables and prepare lunch. The kitchen filled with the delicious aromas of Vietnamese cooking, and the easy camaraderie of shared tasks. <\/span><\/p>\n\nBy the time we sat down to a delicious, authentic Vietnamese lunch, the morning felt like a lifetime. There was a sense of accomplishment, of genuine connection, and of understanding that you simply can&rsquo;t get from a bus window or a tourist brochure. As we bid farewell to our host, there was a palpable warmth, a gratitude that went beyond words. Many tours relied on outdated itineraries that no longer aligned with the needs or expectations of a new generation of global explorers.<\/span><\/p>\n\nTypical shortcomings included:<\/span><\/p>\n\n<ul data-end=\"1567\" data-start=\"1296\">\n\t<li data-end=\"1351\" data-start=\"1296\">\n\tGeneric and repetitive tours with little innovation<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t<li data-end=\"1415\" data-start=\"1352\">\n\tLengthy bus rides without engaging or meaningful activities<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t<li data-end=\"1482\" data-start=\"1416\">\n\tMinimal interaction with local culture, people, and daily life<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t<li data-end=\"1567\" data-start=\"1483\">\n\tA lack of depth when exploring architecture, religion, history, and battlefields<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nAt the time, most local travel companies lacked the role of experienced product managers&mdash;people who could bridge the gap between the destination and the traveler&rsquo;s mindset. We conducted extensive research, studied traveler feedback, and listened closely to the insights of tour guides. Rather than follow industry norms, we created experience-driven itineraries designed to showcase the real Vietnam&mdash;its vibrant culture, diverse landscapes, and the warmth of its people. We wanted our travelers to feel, taste, hear, see, and truly connect with the destination.<\/span><\/p>\n\nOur collaboration with Gate1 Travel was a pivotal chapter in this journey. In the early years, Vietnam welcomed just a few hundred Gate1 travelers annually. But by 2014, that number had already surpassed 1,000. The growth that followed was even more remarkable.<\/span><\/p>\n\nBetween 2015 and 2019, our traveler numbers soared:<\/span><\/p>\n\n<ul data-end=\"3024\" data-start=\"2920\">\n\t<li data-end=\"2943\" data-start=\"2920\">\n\tFrom 2,000 to 3,000<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t<li data-end=\"2958\" data-start=\"2944\">\n\tThen 4,000<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n\t<li data-end=\"3024\" data-start=\"2959\">\n\tAnd finally, over 5,000 travelers annually by the end of 2019<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\nDespite the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, we remained resilient.
